Missing Sparky

sparky-surfAll too often the worst email a petsitter gets from a client is the one that notifies of a pet passing. While these little guys and gals are not mine (technically) I get so fond of them it’s difficult for me to even write this memorial.

Today I want to tell you about a very special little Jack Russel named Sparky Zimmerman. I could tell you that after 13 years on this world, on Tuesday morning Sparky passed into the many treed, fire hydrant decorated, green fields of doggie heaven due to a respiratory illness. But I would rather tell you about this gentle and sweet little guy that loved to sit in my lap and be petted. Who always greeted me with a wagging tale, ready for a walk.

Well, as least he would if he was awake. Sometimes I would find him sleeping under his mom’s desk. When I stuck my head under that dark hole, to wake him, he would look up and blink with recognition. “Hi, oh good, it’s you. Ooh, I gotta pee. I’m ready for my walk.” Who, once walking, could move his little feet so fast, they were a blur. After he had a chance to relieve himself, you could almost hear him sigh, “whew, I needed that,” but once he was back from the walk knew his treat would be waiting and then our petting and quiet time on the couch.

Sparky loved the water and loved being on the boat with his folks. He also loved water skiing on his little disk when out on the lake with his mom and dad. While I already miss him, I know the sorrow his mom and dad are feeling is much greater. Please remember them in your prayers.
